KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.27 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in Macedon or Miletos, struck under Philoxenos, circa 325. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞAN-ΔPOY Eagle with closed wings standing right on thunderbolt, head turned back to left; to right, monogram. Price 153 ('Amphipolis'). Thompson, ADM I 28-31 ('Miletos'). Very rare and unusually well preserved. Light scratches and slightly rough, otherwise, very fine.
